A Study of Psychiatric Nurses¢¥ Perception concerning Ideology and Role in Community Mental Health


Abstract
This study was done to determine the perception level about the ideology and role in community mental health, variables influencing this perception level and the relationships between community mental health ideology and role perception.
The subjects for this study were 89 psychiatric nurses.
Data were collected by the means of a questionnaire from October 3rd to October 17th 1994.
The questionnaire was consisted of Baker Schulberg¢¥s C.M.H.I. Scale and Baker & Howard¢¥s role perception and translated by Cha.
The results of this study were reviewed in a statistical method Anova, Pearson Correlation Coefficient and Manova to obtain the following the results.
1. Perception level about the ideology and the role in community mental health services shows that the score of perception level about the ideology in community mental health is lowest in the preceding results.
2. Analysis of the relationships of influencing variables to the community metal health ideology and the role perception, most variables was not significant, but those respondents whose psychiatric nursing clinical experience was group therapy had a significantly high perception level about the community mental health ideology(p<0.05).
And the educational levels shows significantly high role perception level(p<0.05).
